I’ve been thinking about the idea that the use of walking sticks amongst the elderly in ancient societies did more than just help them keep upright while walking. This is related to how rapping a hard object on the ground happens to disrupt what are normally uniformly aligned charges of the ground and air around where the RAP occurred.
Now what needs to additionally be understood is that when people have partially lost activity in one or more regions of their brain (there are eight of them total), then they become more and more susceptible to briefly losing consciousness due to what I’ll call ‘Charge Imbalance’. This is because very generally the Left Hemisphere is positively charged and the Right Hemisphere is negatively charged, and thus if a person does not have equal functioning in both hemispheres, then not having enough of either negative or positive charge from the environment causes them to become less and less aware and may result in a faint.
This means that the reason we may still have this stereotype of tribal elders walking about with rather loud walking sticks is because it was a form of ancient medicine that stirred up enough mixed charges from the ground and air so that they could remain conscious.
This loss of brain functioning can occur naturally with old age, but it is more often caused in modern times by the use of drugs, including alcohol. But that is another topic.
Anyway, I had this idea when thinking about how some kinds of ancient peoples had high status elders as decision makers, and that they stereotypically would not only walk around with staffs, but that the staff was a symbol of their status and authority, as well as an object that was endowed with some form of magical power.
This lead to the idea of drug use amongst primitive societies, and the fact that it does lead to chemical brain destruction. Now here is the question: Is it possible that some primitive societies valued an over-specialization of ONE type of perspective amongst their high status elders? If some primitive societies had the concept of masculine and feminine traits, and combined this with the division of what sorts of matters one or the other was best in making decisions about, did some of them learn what sorts of drugs selectively destroyed the brain in a way that emphasized either the masculine or feminine traits they were seeking?
Now, if the survivors of this culture of ancient drug use lived to advanced age and became high status elders, wouldn’t you then have incredibly honed eyes of only ONE very narrow perspective? I believe so.
Anyway, I very quickly worked up a theory about how this could have been accomplished back in the ancient past. It mixes a little of what I know about Native Americans, as well as a bit from the other side of the world. It is sort of a Fill-In-The-Blank issue about which drugs will cause a secession of activity in one hemisphere or the other. For instance, tobacco only grew originally in North American, which means that before it was transported to the Old World, you would need to find some other drug that accomplished the same thing that tobacco did.
And so it seems appropriate to say here that smoking tobacco has the effect of highly activating the Left Hemisphere, while making the Right Hemisphere go dormant. Thus, tobacco makes people hyper-masculine, and this is possibly why tobacco use amongst Native American tribes was to create strongly analytical elders.
Now to emphasize the Right Hemisphere rather than the Left, I believe it is possible to do this with hallucinogenics instead. The Old World had examples of this, such as the Greek’s Oracle of Delphi. ‘Oracle’ was actually a plural for them historically, and they were a class of high status women who used some form of drug to create hyper-feminine intuitive advisors.
In ancient Mesopotamia, in-and-around modern day Iraq, it was common back then to drink beer which was mixed with hallucinogenic herbs and other things.
And so those are some examples of a rather Darwinistic-horror of the ancient past, that only survivors of a culture of drug use and selective brain destruction lived to become high status elders of narrow perspectives. But what sorts of perspectives were they?
The human brain contains four high intelligences, one within only one of eight regions of the brain available. They are located in the Front Left, the Front Right, the Left Temporalparietal Junction, and the Right Temporalparietal Junction.
If parts of the brain lose activity due to the use of drugs, there are one utterly typically path this can take, two rarer ones which can nevertheless be obtained with the disciplined use of drugs (such as that of some primitive societies), and one which is extremely rare and which I believe can only be obtained through an adequate psychological model and esoteric system to bring it about.
The most basic type of person you become is a chemically created sociopath of the Left Temporal. This happens with drug abuse and the lack of impulse control. The Left Temporal, in addition to being responsible for some sound and language processing, is also responsible for the more savage aspects of survival. Because of that, the Left Temporal probably evolved to be the most resilient to poisoning and food spoilage, and this ironically makes it one of the last regions to retain activity in a culture of drug abuse.
To put this another way, the Left Temporal both has a more rudimentary neurological design, as well as a simplified way it encodes information chemically within itself, and this allows it to still remain an active region in the brain when other more sophisticated regions go quiet, which is why drug abuse creates a sociopath.
But the Left Temporal also contains its Junction into the Left Parietal, and even though the Left Junction is more complex and thus more vulnerable to destruction than the main Left Temporal itself, if it survives drug use, then the Left Temporal retains extraordinary high intelligence, though the way the Left Junction thinks is extremely literal.
And so in primitive societies, if they are under threat by rival human communities, then a class of Violent-Scheming-Sumbitches might have been valuable to them. Since they are created through the lack of any disciple at all in the use of drugs, then you would have a whole hell of a lot of these guys, and it seems rather fitting to give them weapons and horses.
Another caveat is that if drug use doesn’t cause the Front Left to go quiet as well, then you have some combination of the Left Temporal and/or its Junction and the Front Left itself. This will create a hyper-masculine with high reason with the capability of planning and participating in acts of aggression.
It may be possible instead that the Left Temporal has gone quiet and only the Front Left remains. This creates a hyper-masculine planner who is almost incapable of raising a finger personally.
Both of these sound like either warband or tribal leadership roles. In fact, the Cherokee have the concept of a White Chief or a Red Chief, and the White Chief took in information and made decisions pertaining to the peacetime affairs of the tribe, while the Red Chief assumed control during war. This leads to interesting ideas.
All of this covers the Left Hemisphere, and a lack of impulse control and drug abuse or the disciplined use of tobacco theoretically explains how selective quieting or brain destruction could be brought about.
As far as the Right Hemisphere, theoretically hallucinogenics will eventually/quickly destroy the high-functioning parts of the Left Hemisphere; ie Hallucinogenics screw up the sophisticated reason, logic, and intellect parts of the Front Left and Left Temporalparietal Junction. This leaves the Right Hemisphere intact and intuitive.
On a tangent, it is ‘Intuitive’ because the Right Hemisphere has a difficult time understanding itself without reason or intellect to study it. A better way to say this perhaps is that reason and logic can’t compose the words to give some sort of scientific description of the Right Hemisphere, while the witches giggle somewhere hidden in the treeline.
Now of the two high intelligences remaining in the Right Hemisphere, you have the Right Temporalparietal Junction and the Front Right.
The Right Junction is a high intelligence survival part of the brain, which evolved alongside the Left Junction in the Left Temporal. Now the Left Junction can be said to be where ‘Survival of the Individual’ is located, and thus is concerned with immediate bodily threats to the self. The Right Junction in contrast is concerned with ‘Survival of the Family’, and so is more forward thinking and planning.
And so it is in the Right Junction that you can probably find shrewd women laughing at men’s stupidity.
This leaves only one region not covered yet, which is activity strictly in the Front Right alone. Now, since the topic of this post is about specialization of one of the four available cognitive perspectives of the human brain, IF there is only activity in the Front Right, then it cannot communicate at all.
This is why this sort of configuration is more likely obtained through some sort of spiritual method/agreement to bring it about, because what it would do is create a ‘Moral Judge’. This is because mankind’s morality is located in the Front Right, and because the Front Right is among the MOST sensitive to drug use and among the first regions to go dormant through the use of them.
This means in theory that this type of ‘Judge’ role in a primitive society can’t use drugs at all. It also means that a society needs to have a sufficient model of the human mind to conceive of a method/agreement with the Front Right that causes it to close itself off from the other three high intelligences, and only utilize them for information and/or to communicate.
Also in theory, if this type of ‘Judge’ couldn’t speak, then it would still have access to one or both Parietal Regions of the brain, which would allow it to still use body signaling and signs to communicate.
